Blood, Sweat & Tears ( B S & T ) est un groupe formé en 1967
à New York par  Al Kooper  ( piano, chant ) et  Steve Katz  ( guitare ).
Le groupe doit son nom par référence à la célèbre phrase de
Winston Churchill  prononcée durant la Seconde Guerre mondiale.
La musique du groupe a su fusionné les styles rock, pop et R & B / Soul
avec la musique jazz. Le groupe devient dès son premier album, " Child Is Father To The Man " (1968), une formidable machine à rock réglée au millimètre, reposant sur une implacable et envahissante section de cuivres.
Ces pionniers du rock « progressif » décrocheront en 1969 un fabuleux
succès avec l'historique " Blood, Sweat And Tears ", classé pendant plus
de deux ans dans les hit-parades, avec à la clé un Grammy.
Dès 1972 ce grand groupe, victime d'incessants changements de personnel
et d'une cruelle absence de leader, perd son aspect novateur, sans retrouver l'impact de ses grands hits (Spinning Wheel, You've Made Me So Very
Happy). Le groupe disparaît à l'aube des années 1980.
Une fusion parfaite du rock et du jazz !!!
