Drifting Sun est formé au début des années 90, après que les français Pat Sanders
(claviers) et Manu Sibona (basse) quittent leur pays et débarquent au Royaume-Uni.
Ils y rencontrent le chanteur américain Rafe Pomeroy , quatre morceaux ont été
enregistrés dans un studio londonien, puis envoyés à Musea pour évaluation.
Le label français décide de signer le groupe sur leur label Brennus et, en 1996,
le premier album du groupe qui porte son nom voit le jour avec la participation de
Karl Groom sur un morceau. Le line-up fut élargi avec l’ajout du guitariste
John Spearman , tandis que Pomerey était remplacé par un chanteur américain,
Chris Martini . À la fin de l’année 1998 le groupe avait lancé son deuxième effort
" On the Rebound ". Après une longue pause, Pat Sanders donne une nouvelle chance
à son groupe, réunissant un nouveau line-up avec le chanteur Peter Falconer ,
le batteur Will Jones et le bassiste / guitariste Dan Storey . Un troisième travail
" Trip the Life Fantastic " a été publié début 2015 jusqu'à " Planet Junkie " en 2019.
Drifting Sun nous délivre un heavy rock progressif, dans la veine des grands
groupes du genre. Leurs compositions Seventies sont riches et travaillées comme
celles d'un Rush ou d'un Saga , tout en bénéficiant d'un son plus actuel.
