John Martyn , écossais à la carrière légendaire et tourmentée,
est un guitariste, chanteur, compositeur et auteur de textes poétiques
au caractère introspectif. Une carrière émaillée de quelques beaux albums,
dont deux albums, en duo avec sa femme Beverley , créations douces et
un peu naïves dans la lignée du mouvement hippie. Il poursuit ensuite en
solo une carrière discrète, émaillée de quelques beaux albums
(Bless The Weather, 1971, Solid Air, 1973, Sunday's Child, 1975) dans
lesquels il marie folk, blues et jazz, une musique envoûtante au service d'une
voix grave qui s'incarne dans des textes inspirés, hors de toutes modes.
A noter diverses collaborations avec des artistes de renom comme
Steve Winwood ou Phil Collins , dans les années 70 et 80.
