~ the yardbirds ~

Trois fabuleux guitaristes Eric Clapton , Jeff Beck et Jimmy Page ,
feront tour à tour parti de cette formation anglaise mythique des 60's.
A leur début les Yardbirds avec Eric Clapton jouent du rythm'n'blues
à la manière de nombreux autres groupes britanniques, puis leur musique
prend une orientation plus pop, ce qui a pour effet de provoquer le
départ de Eric Clapton , viscéralement attaché au blues.
Avec l'arrivée de Jeff Beck le groupe marque un tournant dans
l'orientation musicale, adepte des nouvelles technologies, Jeff Beck
n'a de cesse de repousser les limites sonores de son instrument.
Sous son influence, les Yardbirds vont s'évader sur les terres du
psychédélisme, mais également défricher un nouveau genre que
l'on ne tardera pas à appeler hard rock.
Avec l'arrivée de Jimmy Page , les Yardbirds impressionnent plus que
jamais par leurs prestations scéniques. Jimmy Page , guitariste flamboyant, expérimente notamment la fameuse technique de l'archet lors du morceau
I'm confused qui deviendra plus tard sous le titre Dazed and Confused,
l'un des morceaux de bravoure de Led Zeppelin .
1992, La reformation, le guitariste Chris Dreja et le batteur Jim McCarty décident de relancer les Yardbirds . Si les musiciens aux postes
d'harmoniciste et de guitariste soliste sont régulièrement remplacés,
les Yardbirds nouveaux se trouvent dès 1994 un chanteur-bassiste :
John Idan . 2003, nouvel album, " Birdland ", sur lequel de nombreux
invités prestigieux font une apparition. Parmi eux, un vieil ami : Jeff Beck .
