Kenso  est sans conteste le plus célèbre des groupes japonais de jazz-rock progressif, il a bâti sa réputation sur le talent et la virtuosité hors-pair de ses musiciens. L'accent est mis sur la performance et l'improvisation, avec des thèmes complexes, aux développements et arrangements élaborés qui
rappellent inmanquablement un groupe comme  Brand X , avec aussi des réminiscences de l'Ecole de Canterbury pouvant venir périodiquement faire penser à  Hatfield and the North , National Health . Sur " Esoptron " par
exemple  Kenso  associe la rugosité d'un  Led Zeppelin  à la finesse d'un  Weather Report . La virtuosité, la technique irréprochable, l'inventivité
et un grand sens mélodique donnent à la musique de  Kenso  une
grande finesse, ainsi qu'une richesse inégalée.
